We’re thrilled to recognize Mary Cromer, Deputy Director of the Appalachian Citizens' Law Center, as this year’s Sue Anne Salmon Community Advocacy Award winner! Mary has spent years fighting for environmental justice in Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky, tackling challenges like access to clean water, landowner rights, and the fallout from coal mining. Her work in Martin County, Kentucky—helping residents secure safe drinking water—and her efforts addressing coal bankruptcies are critically important for the region. Mary’s dedication reflects the legacy of Sue Anne Salmon and reminds us all of the power of principled, courageous advocacy.
Congratulations, Mary!
