On February 7, 2024, at 10 a.m., the Kentucky Supreme Court will hear oral argument in the case of
Bluegrass Trust For Historic Preservation v. Lexington - Fayette Urban County Government. The case involves KRS 100.3471, a punitive and unfair law requiring that a citizen appealing a circuit court decision on a zoning matter post a significant financial bond prior to exercising an appeal of right to the court of appeals. KRC filed a "friend of the court" (
amicus) brief supporting the Bluegrass Trust and arguing that the law violates numerous provisions of Kentucky's Constitution. To read KRC's brief, click
