Advocating against a new federal prison in Letcher County

Kentucky Resources Council joined Concerned Letcher Countians, Voice of the Experienced, Dream.org, the Institute to End Mass Incarceration, and Abolitionist Law Center in submitting public comments on the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) issued by the Bureau of Prisons on July 12, 2024 for the proposed development of a new Federal Correctional Institute and Federal Prison Camp in Letcher County, Kentucky. Instead of responding in good faith to critiques of the Draft EIS issued in April, the Federal BOP ignored many substantive comments and concerns and changed almost nothing between the Draft and Final EIS.
