Kentucky halted plan to pour millions of gallons of industrial wastewater into river hours after KRC, Environmental Integrity Project, and other groups notified state officials of our intention to bring a civil lawsuit for violating the Clean Water Act if the discharge came to pass. A subsidiary of LG&E had plans to discharge 4.5 million gallons of wastewater from an old coal loading site outside Sebree, Kentucky, into the Green River. The company was given “off-permit authorization” from Kentucky's Division of Water via a controversial program we believe violates the Clean Water Act. Read our Notice of Intent to Sue letter here.
